First Guns N’ Roses Single Available For Streaming!

The first Guns n’ Roses single has just been made available for online streaming today.

“Chinese Democracy,” the first legally-released for-listening song off of Chinese Democracy the album, can be heard at the link below, from New York’s Q104.3 radio station.

“Shackler’s Revenge” only other

“Shackler’s Revenge,” the only other song off the record that can be legally heard, was released as a part of the Rock Band 2 game a few weeks back.

It hit radio today, to a mixed set of reviews from DJs and talk-show hosts. The general consensus, if any, is that it doesn’t live up to expectation that somehow continued to build over a decade. But then, considering the sheer force of the anticipation, what could have lived up? Certainly not Guns ‘n Roses, lest we forget that this is the band we’ve been talking about the whole time.

“Get-the-juices-flowing sound effects”

Popwatch’s Chris Willman says it best:

“The first minute of the 4:40 running time consists of get-the-juices-flowing sound effects,” he writes.

“Finally, a minute and a half in, we get an abridged version of that patented Axl scream, and then what feels like the buildup to a great refrain, but turns out to really be the refrain, which is moderately memorable at best. Some nice Slash-Who? soloing kicks in at just past the three-minute point, but it’s not nearly the catharsis the song seems (or needs) to be building toward.”

He goes on to invite blogger responses, “and if you have the slightest idea what the cryptic, vaguely-but-not-really-political lyrics mean… do share.”

Heck, at least we’ll all get our free Dr Peppers.

The actual album release hits Australia on November 22 and the US of A on November 25. And Best Buy, first. Don’t forget Best Buy.

The album will have two different covers, as well as CD and vinyl versions. What looks like one of the covers can be seen on the Best Buy website; it features a bicycle with a basket sitting on it.
