Sony recording artist Blake Davis comes on to Singing Success Online to expose some of his vocal difficulties so all of us can better learn about the importance and process of cord closure. Blake has an amazing raspy tone that sounds great on a record but causes his voice to cut out when he goes high. Enter cord closure.

Jesse shows Blake loads of exercises to use in order to find connection to the top and keep his tone pure instead of airy. You can hear as Blake’s voice responds to the exercises and “blossoms” towards the end with beautiful tenor A and Bb’s.

Awesome Jesse! What a great lesson on cord closure. You have cleared so much up for Me. I have been stumblin' around SS now for about A year and a half and I have steadily but (painfully slowly) been coming to understand the concepts and I knew that cord closure was key. I'm 54 and have been singing in clubs and in the Church for almost 30 years and have done so much damage to My voice that I had almost given up before "Accidentally" finding SS.
I enjoy all the lessons but the technique is what I am trying to grasp correctly so I can build a voice again.
I have come to trust that everytime a lesson is posted that features You as coach that I'm gonna get some real "Meat" (Sorry for all You vegetarians out there LOL!)
